8 months on strike in Mc Donald’s :
International day of solidarity 29th november 2003

In France, Mc Donald’s has 950 restaurants, 37 500 employees and a sales figures of 2 milliards euros. As all the restauration companies, Mc Do benefit from the most unfair collective workers’agreement. Taking the pretext of giving youth a job while they continue their studies, Mc Do hope a high turn over to avoid all wishes of protest in spite of a hard work and bad wages : flexible hours decided by the manager, intense work rythms, under-number of employees, mandatory part-time job, overtime paid like usual time or not registered, …and adding an important repression against trade unions and a systematic resort to lay off at the least labour demand.

Between october 2001 and february 2002, we have hold a strike for 115 days against the laying off five of us and this strike was victorious. The last year, our struggle was in a large dynamic in connection with a lot of restauration, trade and cleaning companies, it was interesting and new for precarious workers.
This second strike started on the 11 march 2003 is the direct result of the first struggle : Mc Donald’s wants to destroy the team who dared to brave them. In fact, since the first strike, no work vacancy has been replaced, we have turn from 50 people to thirty employees for the same amount of work. The machine were never maintained. And finally, Tino Fortunat – the assistant manager and union delegate who had supported us during the first strike – has been dismissed by the new appointed manager, who accused him of arbitrary hirings, which were nonetheless necessary for the smooth functioning of the restaurant
We are determined to continue the struggle as long as we won’t obtain satisfaction however it’s necessary that others Macdo or others working sectors join the strike to contest really this type of production and this kind of work organisation based on exploitation.

We need all the solidarities to submit Mc Donald’s. We invite to multiplicate all kind of initiatives against Mac Do restaurants, recruitment agencies or head offices : by tracts distributions, billstickings, restaurants lockings or all kind of harassments (head office Mc Donald’s France : fax 0033 130486200 – tel 0033 130486000)…

On the 29 th november, join us for the international day of solidarity with the strike at Mc Donald’s Strasbourg-Saint Denis (Paris)
For Paris, 29 th nov, we will meet at 11h in front of the Mc Do which is occupied
