The Pit Stop Ploughshares - Deirdre Clancy, Nuin Dunlop Karen Fallon, Damien Moran and Ciaron O'Reilly - await trial in Dublin for courts charged with two counts of criminal damage at Shannon Airport - 200 euro (hangar window) and 2.5 million euro (US Navy War Plane).
The charges arise out of their nonviolent disarmament action on February 3rd, as 92,000 troops (Jan 1st. - present) have commuted through Shannon on their way to invading and occupying Iraq.
The five have spent 4-11 weeks in Limerick Prison and the last 8 months on restrictive bail conditions. A trial judge has been appointed
legal argument in relation to discovery will continue on Nov 19th in the Four Courts.
The five face a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted. The benefit is to celebrate nonviolent resistace to the ongoing war & raise funds to facilitate relevant witnesses attending the trial to testify in their defence.
