CORK PALESTINE AWARENESS WEEK
As part of the nation-wide Palestine Awareness Week, the Cork branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign is running a series of events, starting on Sunday, 19 October, and continuing through Thursday, 23 October. Some events are in the city centre (in the Triskel Centre or in Tig Fili,on MacCurtain Street) and some are on the UCC campus.
ALL EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.
Sunday, 19 October
5:00 pm, Triskel Arts Centre, city centre, �The Black Panthers (in Israel)Speak�. A documentary film on the early 1970s uprising of the Mizrahim (Jews from Arab Countries) against discrimination from the Ashkenazi (European) elite in Israel.(Triskel Box Office phone: 021 427 2263)Monday, 20 October

1:00 � 2:00 pm, Room 201, O'Rahilly Building, UCC: �Jenin, Jenin�, documentary on the events of April 2002, directed by the Palestinian actor and director, Mohammed Bakri. The film is banned in Israel; its producer, Iyad Samudi,was killed by the Israeli army within weeks of making the film.
8:00 -10:00 pm, Tig Fili, MacCurtain Street, city centre: poetry reading and discussion, led by Ibrahim Nasrallah, a Palestinian poet.
