US torture and maltreatment of prisoners is routine
US forces in Afghanistan will not disclose the results of an inquiry into the death of two prisoners in their custody last December. Now a third prisoner has mysteriously died during interrogation.
US forces in Guantanamo bay , Afghanistan and elsewhere are behaving in a manner and treating prisoners in a manner reminiscent of medieval tyrants and torturers. Even the most severe and evil British repression of rebellion in Ireland down the centuries pales in comparison to the actions of the US against poor Muslims in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay.
Prisoners are held in conditions not suitable for dogs, given less rights than slaves in the Old American South, and tortured in a manner that would please the Roman Inquisition.
The latest death occured at a US-managed holding facility near Asadabad. Hundreds of men are held in overcrowded cages where there is no room to lie down. They are sometimes given no water for days despite the seering heat. Food is seldom more than one bowl of rice a day and torture always accompanies interrogation - always.
It would make an interesting "reality TV" show. Who will be first voted off by his interrogators? Who would the viewers at home like to get a bowl of rice today? What did Haroon say to the secret cam while having his fingernails pulled off? But I doubt we'll see it on Fox or CoCo TV!
