Independents close to the Hashemite royal court secured most of the votes in this weeks elections in Jordan. However the Islamic Action Front have taken 15 percent of the seats in the lower house.
The IAF's first ever woman candidate was elected along with five other women who took seats under a new royal decree that reserves at last six seats for women , whether they reach the quota or not.
Turnout was 58.87 percent, including 54 percent female participation. I6 of 30 Islamic Action Front candidates were elected and King Abdullah welcomed the participation of the Islamic Action Front in Jordans elections , saying that, as the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, it was an integral part of , "the political fabric of Jordan".
