After more than 105 hours holding from the twelve storey building, 2 activists are still ressisting
with a banner with a message of outrage and solidarity.

The demands of the activists from the Swiss Consulate are:

1. The immediate release of all prisoners who remain detained and imcommuincate since the G8 summit.

2. The complete withdrawal of criminal charges against all activists present during the bridge action.

3. A transparant, independent public inquiry into the training and orders and the general policing/security policy that surrounded this G8 sunnit. This public inquiry should also contain a specific invesitigation of the police team responsible for cutting the rope that caused the fall and subsequent injuries to Martin Shaw and his fellow activists.

4. The Swiss government to sign a written statement committing to take full responsibility for the acts of its police. This commitment to culpability should include the pledge to fully compensate all injured parties present during the bridge action, and other individuals who have incurred medical or judicial costs as a result of violent repression by the apparantly immune Swiss police forces.

That Martin chappie ...

Engaging on dangerous capers like that ...

He should have taken out stuntman insurance ...

Well let it be a warning to the rest of ye ....

Oh and by the way .... just in case ye hadn't noticed police and other agents of the state generally enjoy immunity for acts performed in the course of their offcial duties unless there is some evidence of gross misconduct ....

And even when there is there's usually some way found to cover up ......

From Bloody Sunday to Abbeylara I though that the Oirish - including the paudeen emigrants from the Free State - would have known that ......

I'd says ye have a snowball's chance in hell of getting the Swiss authorities to give in to yeer demands ... young Martin may have felt himself on a mission from God to stop the G8 boyos from having their wee meeting but I suspect that the Swiss legal system will take a less messianic view of things .....

However, don't let common sense stop ye .....

The Capitalists behaved impeccably at Evian:

"Unlike Gothenburg and Genoa, where the capitalist state tried to take the movement on by intimidation and violent repression, the strategy they employed for Geneva and Evian was somewhat different, a backhanded recognition that the movement is here to stay. On this occasion the main blockade and demonstration in Geneva was totally unimpeded by the state. Likewise the French and Swiss border guards, immigration control and customs officers were nowhere to be seen when the mass demonstrations of over 100,000 converged on the border. "

These workers in uniform protect civilisation from the barbarian hordes of the Black Bloc. When I am Chief of Police you crusties will get it in the neck. Next time you try a picnic in the park we will set dogs on you.
