In response to the changes to the application of the Equal Status Act contained in the Intoxicating Liquor Bill, 2002, the Equality Coalition, headed by the Irish Traveller Movement will be holding a protest rally at 11am on 19th June 2003 at the Department of Justice on St. Stephen's Green.
The Coalition consider the provisions contained in the Bill, as a roll
back on the equality legislation, as it will remove the jurisdiction
of the ODEI - Equality Tribunal, transferring it to the District
Courts, in relation to cases of discrimination for access within the
service industry.
Please offer your support to the
Coalition members (as listed below) and display your own objections to
the provisions.

Jump To Comment: 1Disgraceful the way the equality legislation is under attack from Mc Dowell. legalislation for Traveller rights was going in the right direction up until the trespass act of last year.
I will be going and hope to see all the left, who have ignored Travellers rights for so long, get the finger out, and at the very least turn up as an act of solidarity.
The only politicans attending last years march was Sinn Fein with their dublin councillors, and Chris Flood from Fiana Fail, I hope they are joined by others for this one.
