Offshore windfarm - "The project can be reached only if the Gov. agree's to support the construction of an interconnector between Ireland and Wales so electricity can be sold to Britain"
T.I.T. today reports on the proposed big offshore windfarm close to Arklow, Wicklow.
The Players -
Mr. Jim Richards of US energy giants General Electric.
Mr. Eddie O' Connor of the Irish wind energy company Airtricity, who says
"The project can be reached only if the Gov. agree's to support the construction of an interconnector between Ireland and Wales so electricity can be sold to Britain"
This is part of a plan to fully liberalise the electricity market in 2005 and introduce an integrated Irl-UK electricity market with further plans in the future for one big European electricity market.
S. Aerobics, who says
The Irl-UK interconnector means that electricity would also flow in the opposite direction i.e. elecricity generated in the UK would be sold to Ireland.
Is Ireland to become (or is it already) a market for electricity generated from the UK's nuclear industry ?
How does this fit in with the Gov. claims to have Sellafield shut ?
