It could be said that Caoimhe tolerated Marian Finucane's idiot radio style very well, and also her arrogance in constantly speaking over her guest and aggressively pushing her own viewpoint (or the stations agenda?)

The link above will expire in a week, so I may post this part of the programme later. The section with Caoimhe starts at around 1 minute 13.

In this programme, Richard Crowley says:
"the young irish woman who stayed in the camp during the fiercest of fighting doing what she could to prevent the deaths of palestinian women and children has established ireland here as a country which cared when the world stood idly by"

i'm glad i am not in ireland right now having to listen to such utter bollox every time i go into a shop or anywhere where people listen to rte radio's brainwashed presenters, idiots like Marian Finucane who's egos have been so inflated by the power of rte's monopoly that they cannot see their own ignorance.

sounds like she has a buidéal under the desk with her.

because the interviewee is too given to waffling on without giving anything resembling an answer. Marion keeps asking "but what would you do if you were President Bush" eventually eliciting the response "I don't know what I would do".

Always the same story, plenty of whining but no ideas, nothing constructive to add.

A waste of good online time.

Caoimhe interupts Finucane?! That's a bit rich.

Finucane interupts and interupts and goes on and on - making the same mistake of connecting Iraq to Sept 11th again and again - asking if Caoimhe 'set herself up to be shot in jenin', an absurd and insulting question - Finucane constantly associates all terrorism in the middle east with causes and issues that do not connect.

It is obvious that Finucane is clueless and beyond her depth in interviewing someone as smart and balanced as Caoimhe.

Went to Caoimhe's talk in Cork. Great turnout (especially considering the blasting sunshine outside) and great discussion. Inspiring. Well done Caoimhe!

In response to ABC, the question was an interruption in itself.

As she reveals at the end of the interview, M. Finucane is convinced that Caoimhe is "clearly [...] off the richter scale anti-american" and tries to make out that she has no sympathy for the "americans" over 9/11.

As Caoimhe is explaining her objection to the use of 9/11 as an excuse to take more life, finucane interrupts with “yeah”, and if you listen, note the condescending tone of that “yeah”, which is then followed by some ridiculous rant about self-defence. So finucane obviously has no idea of the history of united states aggression or the reasons why the twin-towers were attacked (assuming for the purpose of this discussion, that the attack was external).

Caoimhe on the other hand was still attempting to answer the previous question "How did the middle east enter your life?" explaing that the reason she went to iraq was to find out more about the ‘why’, when the final interuption of this part takes place, which I outline below:

Caoimhe was explaining the fact that in Palestine and Iraq, people are able to differentiate between the policies of the government of a country and the people of those countries.
Finucane tosses this away, because she wants to push her Caoimhe is an anti-american lunatic viewpoint, which obviously throws Caoimhe a bit.

She tries to recover and respond, but is interrupted again with (and these quotes are here for a reason) “like what would you do supposing you were because I don’t know what I would do I mean I’m not asking this to so if you were president bush…. and…. the twin towers happened on your watch.. your.. your.. you’re supposed to be minding the american people. What would you do?”

Caoimhe responds “I don’t think that the response…I don’t know what I would do to be quite honest. I don’t think the response to September 11th…….” Thus answering this ridiculous “question” within 3 seconds of having been asked.

Sure, it wasn’t a great answer, and she could have used the opportunity better, but nobody’s perfect and I imagine at this point she was probably tiring of finucane's nonsense, and trying to maintain the thread of the previous question in her head, yet from this point she tolerates another 11 minutes, including finucanes throwing away the sanctions against Iraq as “a whole other story” because she realised while speaking that she hadn’t done her homework, and also her incorrect references to Arafat’s Hamas group.

Which is what I was saying in the first place, that Caoimhe tolerated really well finucane’s arrogance and ignorance. She could have really taken her apart.

As for me, I’m feeling a bit nauseous now from listening to finucane so much. cya.
