I don't know how asking why the organisers couldn't have invited women travelers speakers to speak about travelers issues is 'trolling'.
I just got back into Indymedia - which is remarkable considering the abandonment level - and I'm silenced.

Just because you don't like to hear a question, a valid question that is, doesn't mean I'm a troll. I'm going to the event, I was just asking why a woman traveler can't speak about their own issues and experiences. I don't really see how my comment could be inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic, but sure this comment will be removed due the iron-clad comment removal system in place.

Oh, and the email doesn't work so there's no chance of any reply or attempt to communicate with anyone who has a grievance from the indymedia team(person?).

Now I know what I'm going to say is grounds for removal - because, God forbid, people dare to openly talk about editorial decisions (with no process to protest against editors decisions) - but this site is a sad case. Years ago I thought it was great. Suppose I shouldn't have wasted my time coming back here. Good luck with Indymedia Ireland.

"contact us" Email link does work actually conor, so please don't try to misinform others on that score.
We get and read through every post that comes through that link.

Most comments posted on Indymedia are deliberately trolling and divisive so we are naturally rather conservative and defensive. We are this way out of practical necessity after years of vicious trolling, so you can largely blame the trolls for how we have had to evolve our moderation.

I hid your sock puppet comment because I interpreted it's intention as an anonymous attempt to undermine the event and imply that the organisers are being "racist" because they did not have actual travellers in their speaker list

I still believe that was likely your intention but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and unhide ok?

How's that for a fair hearing? Fairer than your snap judgement of this website in your subsequent comment that's for sure conor.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by to undermine indymedia and it's volunteers, and to effectively question genuine activists as "racists" when they try to publicise what will no doubt be an informative talk highlighting the issues of travellers. A most positive contribution indeed conor, Thanks so much

Perhaps next time you'll consider posting an epic well written and informative article on a topic of interest for the public instead of just undermining the efforts of others. Although in my experience your kind of poster rarely seem to bother doing that. Too much effort. Drive by one line criticism followed swiftly by indignant commentary if pruned is so much easier. Bah!
