Republican Network For Unity (RNU) Spokesperson, Martin Óg Meehan has strongly criticised the re-employment of former RUC Personnel by the PSNI.

Mr. Meehan said; ' For the past ten years, Nationalist Politicians and Catholic Clergy have told the Nationalist and Republican community that. That the PSNI are a modern, reformed and progressive policing service for the 21st Century. How is this possible when hundreds of former RUC personnel are re-employed by the PSNI?

Are these NOT the same people who were directly in the killings of members of our community, colluded in the killings of many more and oppressed us for geberations. One such RUC/PSNI man Mark McDowell, the former Head of the RUC Special Branch, whose corrupt behaviour ensured the resignation of the Ombudsman. McDowell not only received a redundancy package, he has also been re-employed by the PSNI.

At a time of huge cuts, growing emigration and large unemployment lines when tens of thousands of families face a bleak future. Hundreds of former RUC members are paid millions of pounds in redundancy payments ONLY to be re-employed by the PSNI', said the RNU Ard Chomhairle member.
