The $300 million biannual "Talisman Sabre 2011" exercise involves 20,000 U.S. and 7,000 Australian troops, aircraft carriers and fighter bombers. The Australian forces in Afghanistan have suffered 27 fatalities. 181 soldiers have been wounded. Australian forces, comprising of both special forces and regular army, have been the subject of war crime accusations.
